Double murder in St. Thomas, 3 arrested after dramatic cross-parish chase




ST THOMAS, Jamaica — The police are reporting that three people have been arrested following the shooting death of a man and a woman at a service station on Red Hills main road in Morant Bay, St Thomas yesterday.


Dead are 49-year-old Christopher Higgins otherwise called ‘Chris’, unemployed of North Street, Morant Bay and 22-year-old Katherina Brown, otherwise called ‘Trina’, a cashier of Lyssons both in the parish.


Reports from the Morant Bay police are that about 11:10 pm, three men aboard a Suzuki Swift motorcar drove into the service station and fired several shots, hitting Higgins multiple times before chasing Brown, who was inside the building, and also gunning her down.


Both victims succumbed to their wounds at hospital.


The gunmen’s escape was subsequently foiled after they were chased by the police to Mountain View road in Kingston, where they abandoned the motorcar. They took off on foot, firing several shots at the lawmen.


However, three persons were later apprehended after the police carried out investigations.


Their names are being withheld until they are questioned and charged.
